On an HPE system with HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 7) firmware v1.19 (or earlier), duplicate Ports and MAC addresses are reported for Ethernet Cards in specific configurations. This duplication has only been observed when the adapters are installed specifically in PCIe Slot 2 and PCIe Slot 3. This behavior is inconsistent: during the Power-On Self-Test (POST), the correct MAC addresses are sometimes displayed; however, after POST completes, information may be duplicated. This does not affect the operating system because the OS correctly detects each adapter as expected and iLO 7 refreshes the information after the OS if the HPE Agentless Management Solution (AMS) is installed, as AMS corrects the NIC information once loaded. For example, with NICs installed in PCIe Slot 2 (Broadcom BCM 57404 10/25GbE) and Slot 3 (SolarFlare), the SolarFlare XtremeScale X2522 25G adapter in Slot 3 intermittently displays the MAC addresses and port information for the Broadcom adapter in Slot 2.The Broadcom BCM 57404 10/25GbE card has four ports while the SolarFlare card has only two. However, the interface information displayed in the GUI incorrectly displays four ports for the SolarFlare card, matching the Broadcom layout. This duplication of ports and MAC addresses has only been observed when the adapters are installed specifically in PCIe Slot 2 and Slot 3.In the screenshot below, the Broadcom adapter on the left displays the correct details, while the SolarFlare adapter on the right (in Mezz Slot 3) displays the duplicated/incorrect MAC and port information highlighted in red.
Any HPE system with iLO 7 firmware v1.19 (or earlier) or when an OS with AMS is not installed.
