During a GPU firmware update on installed AMD MI355X GPUs on an HPE ProLiant Compute XD685 system, the firmware flashing process may appear to halt, with progress remaining at a fixed percentage (for example, 50%) for an extended period of time.

For a workaround, to recover the system and continue the update process, perform the following procedure:IMPORTANT: If the iLOREST indicates that a firmware flashing operation is in progress, do not force a restart. Allow the operation to continue until a timeout or error condition is reported.If the system appears unresponsive after the firmware update process has stalled, perform a hard shutdown.Power the system back on and verify the current GPU firmware and driver versions to determine whether the update was partially applied.Before retrying the firmware update, restart the iLO management controller and clear any cached iLOREST data to ensure a fresh update session.Note: iLOREST stores cached data locally on the operating system. This cache can be cleared manually by deleting the contents of the iLOREST cache directory.For Linux/Ubuntu systems, the default location is as follows:/root/iLORestRestart the firmware update.This advisory will be updated when a permanent resolution becomes available.
