On HPE ProLiant Gen11 or Gen12 servers configured with HPE SN1610Q or SN1700Q Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (FC HBAs), a firmware downgrade from version 2.11.09 (mh021109.upd_header.pldm.fwpkg) to any earlier supported version may fail with the following error:NoMatchingTargetDeviceFoundNOTE: During this process, the adapter may also become unresponsive.Example:

This issue will be resolved in a future FC HBA firmware release. This document will be updated when more information becomes available.To work around this issue, the FC HBA in an "unresponsive" state can be recovered by downgrading the firmware to 2.11.01, using the .bin file by following the steps below:NOTE: Use the following Windows Firmware Smart component available at:HPE Firmware Flash for QLogic Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters - Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 (x86_64)Double-click the executable (cp067638.exe) file and selectExtract...to extract the .bin file from the Windows package (this is an OS-independent device firmware file), and keep the contents in a folder:Verify that themh021101.binfile from the extracted folder is present.Reboot the server.Mount the extracted folder to iLO.PressF9and go toEmbedded Applications > Firmware Update > Select a device to update(adapter to be recovered). Select a firmware file, and selectFile systems on Attached Media (Mounted folder). Select the.binfile and flash the adapter:Reboot the server to reflect the flashed version.
