When using the Ubuntu 22.04.5 Live Server OS image, logical drives created under the HPE MR932i-p Storage Controller are not detected during the installation of Ubuntu 22.04.5. The disk selection page displays the following error:Block probing did not discover any disks. However, when installing using "Ubuntu Server with the HWE kernel," the logical drives become visible:HWE Kernel driver version: mpi3mr 8.5.1.0.0
This issue applies to the HPE MR932i-p x32 Lanes PCIe Gen5 SPDM Plug-in Storage Controller (Part Number: P75697-B21).
To resolve this issue, choose the Ubuntu Server with the HWE kernel, which includes mpi3mr 8.5.1.0.0, instead of the Ubuntu Server that includes mpi3mr 8.0.0.69.0. This driver version properly supports the HPE MR932i-p storage controller and allows the logical drives to be detected during installation:
