When attempting to update server firmware via Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP), the Server Platform Services (SPS) firmware for HPE Gen10 e910t server blade may encounter an Exception message. When this occurs, both IE and SPS firmware are put into the iLO queue for the update, and while the IE update will succeed, the SPS update will fail.The root cause of this issue is the BIOS HECI command informing the Innovation Engine (IE) that the system is about to halt for the firmware flash, but it does not set the appropriate flag. This is because the BIOS is sending the HECI command while IE is resetting.

If the Exception is seen indicating the Innovation Engine (IE) update is successful but the Server Platform Services (SPS) firmware update is not, manually reboot the server to enable the SPS to update.
