Firmware updates may be unsuccessful on HPE Synergy 480 Gen10, Gen10 Plus, or Gen11 Compute Modules running VMware vSphere ESXi 9.0 when configured with the HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter after applying updates via HPE OneView or remote deployment through the Synergy Service Pack (SSP) under certain conditions.On HPE OneView, the adapter reports the previous firmware when either of the following installation methods are used:“Firmware and OS Drivers using Smart Update Tools”“Firmware only with Smart update tools”On HPE OneView and the SSP, the components proceed for deployment and in the installation queue, all of the selected components get updated successfully. Any HPE Synergy 480 Gen10, Gen10 Plus, or Gen11 Compute Modules running VMware vSphere ESXi 9.0 and configured with the HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter.
This issue is resolved in HPE Firmware Flash for Synergy Emulex Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters for VMware vSphere 9.0, version 2025.11.01(b).NOTE: The HPE Emulex Fibre Channel HBA firmware version will remain at 14.4.731.5 because the issue resides within the smart component, not the adapter firmware.Download:Refer to the following resources to download the firmware.HPE Synergy Service Pack SY-2026.01.01HPE Firmware Flash for Synergy Emulex Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters for VMware vSphere 9.0As a workaround, select the option, “firmware only,” to upgrade successfully in OneView.
