On any HPE platform configured with any of the HPE Broadcom-based network adapters listed in the Scope section, PLDM Platform Level Data Model (PLDM) firmware update failures may be experienced in the HPE iLO web, the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) or the iLOrest when downgrading to firmware v224.x.x.x (or prior).When this issue occurs, the Network Controller Sideband Interface (NC-SI) version may show 0.0.0.0 in the BIOS Human Interface Infrastructure (HII) menu for the affected network adapter.This occurs when the network adapter is initializing during the Power-On Self-Test (POST), and the main processor on the network adapter misses the first Inter-Process Communication (IPC) from the Network Controller Sideband Interface (NC-SI) processor. The Endpoint Identifier (EID) of the network adapter may not be successfully assigned from bus master; therefore, the Platform Level Data Model (PLDM) firmware update or some management functions will be affected, without an impact to the regular ethernet interconnection.
