On any HPE platform with VMware-ESXi-7.0.3-23794027-HPE-703.0.0.11.8.0.4-Sep2024.iso (or prior) installed and running, and with the Broadcom StorCli component installed separately via Service Pack for ProLiant updates or other method, upgrading the operating system to its matching HPE Custom 80U3 Image release (in this case, VMware-ESXi-8.0.3-24022510-HPE-803.0.0.11.8.0.6-Sep2024.iso or VMware-ESXi-8.0.3-24280767-HPE-803.0.0.11.8.0.6-Oct2024.iso) will fail, displaying the following error:2025-01-20T04:48:50Z esxupdate: 2274908: root: ERROR: esximage.Errors.DependencyError: On platform embeddedEsx, VIB BCM_bootbank_vmware-storcli64_007.2812.0000.0000-01 requires esx-version << 7.1.0, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile.The failure occurs because the VMware 7.0 ESXi StorCli component does not have support for VMware ESXi 8.0, and the desired VMware ESXu 8.0U3 Custom Image does not include any VMware ESXi 8.0 StorCli component.
