Storage controller cards that support self-activated Platform Level Data Model (PLDM) firmware updates on HPE MR Gen11 AMD servers installed with EPYC 9xx5 2P processors may fail due to an issue where the Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP) Bridge on the AMD platform fails to assign the MCTP Endpoint ID to the device after a firmware update, causing the device inventory to be missing in the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) GUI.The following message displays in the iLO Event Log (IEL) when the failure occurs, where "X" denotes the slot in which the storage controller is installed:Firmware update failed with reason: PLDM CC (01h): Device in slot X not responding. Non-recoverable PLDM error(-47). Send AHS log to Vendor Support
This issue affects System ROM versions earlier than 2.30 ONLY on AMD EPYC 9xx5 2P systems with HPE MR controllers.NOTE: The Endpoint Identifier (EID) is fixed in System ROM versions 2.30 and later.
This issue does not affect functionality of the storage controller and will be addressed in a future HPE UEFI firmware release which will incorporate changes made by AMD.This document will be updated when more information becomes available.
