What’s ChangingBeginning with the January 2025 release, HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software will no longer include pre-built binaries for Slurm. Instead, customers will need to obtain Slurm directly from SchedMD.Why This ChangeThis change enables customers to receive Slurm software updates when they are released by SchedMD, eliminating the need to wait for the pre-built binaries from HPE.Customers will now download Slurm from SchedMD and follow the documentation in the HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software Administration Guide to build the binaries, ensuring compatibility with HPE HPC software stack.
Extended Support StackCustomers running HPE Cray Operating System (COS 23.11) where Slurm pre-built binaries were provided, will continue to receive critical fixes direct from HPE.Continuous Release StackFor customers running HPE Cray Operating System COS 24.7/ HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software 1.1, support for this version expires in January 2025 when we release HPE Cray Operating System 25.1 and HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software 1.2.
Downloading SlurmStarting January 2025, customers will need to download Slurm from SchedMD and follow HPE’s documentation to build the necessary binaries. The administration guide for HPE Cray User Services Software provides the steps to build the required RPMs.Extended Support StackCustomers running HPE Cray Operating System (COS 23.11) where Slurm pre-built binaries were provided, will continue to receive critical fixes direct from HPE. Support for this version expires in June 2025 when customers will need to upgrade to remain on a supported version of software. Afterwards, all fixes will be provided directly by Sched MD.Continuous Release StackFor customers running HPE Cray Operating System COS 24.7/ HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software 1.1, support for this version expires in January 2025 when we release HPE Cray Operating System 25.1 and HPE Cray Supercomputing User Services Software 1.2.
