When updating the SAS/SATA/NVMe drive firmware for MR Gen10 Plus and Gen11 Storage controllers using HPE Smart Component version 52.26.3-5487 (or later), the SAS/SATA/NVMe drive firmware fails intermittently. This issue only occurs during system boot to the VMware ESXi operating system.VMware sends SCSI commands, which interfere with the firmware update process of the SAS/SATA/NVMe drive. This issue does not occur in pre-boot or maintenance mode, where no commands are sent to the drive from the host or any other OS that does not issue an SCSI inquiry command during the firmware update of the SAS/SATA/NVMe drive.Drive Firmware Update Failed Image:Drive Firmware Update Through iLO Image:
