Info
When updating firmware, an alert message and staging failed error message may appear as follows:
"
The following firmware components are inconsistent with the specified firmware baseline: {list of components that are inconsistent} (SHFW_021)
Resolution
Power cycle the server and wait for the power-on self-test (POST) to complete. If the problem persists, re-apply the server profile to update the firmware again.
"
"
Stage failed for component {component_name}
Stage failed
."
The issue will occur when all of the following conditions are met:
HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 5/6) is in high security mode.
The "Require Host Authentication" iLO setting has been set to disabled after the high security mode was enabled.
OneView profile is using the "Firmware Only" installation method.
NOTE
:
When enabling a high security mode in iLO, the "Require Host Authentication" is automatically set to "enabled."
In FIPS and CNSA modes, the "Require Host Authentication" iLO setting cannot be set to disabled.
In addition, after the profile apply is completed, the server may not power-on until the iLO is reset.
Scope
HPE OneView managing HPE ProLiant or Synergy Gen10 and Gen11 servers with the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5/6 (iLO 5/6) in high security mode.
Resolution
This issue is corrected by upgrading to
HPE OneView 9.0
or later.
As a workaround, select from the following options:
Use the "Firmware only using Smart Update Tools" option for the installation method in the OneView server profile.
OR
If the "Firmware only using Smart Update Tools" cannot be used, use the "Firmware only" option in the OneView server profile and set the "Require Host Authentication" setting in iLO to "enabled" before applying the server profile.
