On any of the HPE Intel-based ProLiant, Alletra and Synergy systems mentioned in the Scope section below, configured with Intel E5 platform processors (SPR XCC, MCC or EMR XCC processors which support 512 GB PRMRR), Full DIMMs (Or one DIMM per channel, total memory size over 512 GB) and the Protected Region Memory Range Region (PRMRR) is set to 512GB in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU), the system cannot boot into Windows Server 2022.When this occurs, the system will display the HPE logo screen, followed by a reboot and then the Power-On Self-Test (POST) screen; however, no error messages will be displayed.
Any of the following systems configured with Intel E5 platforms processors and default RBSU settings:HPE Alletra 4120HPE Alletra 4110HPE ProLiant 380a Gen11 ServerHPE Alletra 4140HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen11 ServerHPE ProLiant DL360/DL380/ML350 Gen11 ServerHPE ProLiant DL560 Gen11 ServerHPE ProLiant ML110/DL320 Gen11 ServerHPE Synergy 480 Gen11 Compute Module
This issue has been fixed with Microsoft Windows Server 2022 OSBuild 20348.2700.As a workaround, follow the steps below:Important: Before booting into Windows Server 2022, Load defaults from the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) settings which can be accessed by pressing F9 during boot.Enable TME under System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Memory Options > Memory Encryption Options > Total Memory Encryption (TME).Enable Intel(R) Software Guard Extensions (SGX) and set the PRMRR Size under System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Server Security > Intel Security Options. PRMRR size can be set to 256MB, 512MB, 1G, 2G, 4G, 8G, 16G, 32G, 64G, 128G, 256G.
