When running the HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) on HPE Gen10 servers to update the MR Gen10 Plus Controller firmware, the Smart Update Manager (SUM) displays a “Deployment error.”SUM Deployment Error Example
Any HPE Gen10 server using HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) to update the following HPE MR Gen10 Plus Controllers:HPE MR216i-a Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes without Cache NVMe/SAS 12G Controller (P26325-B21)HPE MR216i-p Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes without Cache NVMe/SAS 12G Controller (P26324-B21)HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes 4GB Cache NVMe/SAS 12G Controller (P26279-B21)HPE MR416i-p Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes 4GB Cache NVMe/SAS 12G Controller (P06367-B21)
Refer to the workaround below, as there are currently no plans to resolve this issue permanently.WorkaroundThe “Deployment Error” message may appear due to core hardware limitations. This is expected behavior and does not indicate a critical issue. If the firmware update is successfully applied after rebooting the server, you can safely disregard this message.To locate the firmware version, complete the following steps:Log into the iLO GUI “Information - iLO Overview” default page.SelectSystem Informationin the iLO 5 left side bar which takes you to the “Summary” default page.SelectDevice Inventoryto find the firmware version.If the firmware did not update after rebooting, download and update the HPE Gen10 Plus Controller firmware package from the HPE website at any of the links below.
