Info
When performing an HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) reset or iLO firmware update on an HPE Gen11 server with no OS installed on the host and iLO BIOS is continuously attempting to find the Boot targets, the server stops responding with a "Halted system due to SPDM (Security Protocol Data Model) component authentication failure" message. During the Host Reboot or BIOS Boot process, the iLO reset may generate some of the failures of iLO and BIOS communication, causing the system to stop responding.

This does not affect the operation or functionality of iLO 6 or the system. This only occurs during an iLO 6 Reset/firmware update.
Scope
Any HPE Gen11 servers with no OS installed on the host.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform a server reboot. Perform the firmware update again if needed.
