On an HPE ProLiant Gen10 or Gen10 Plus server, when the HPE Embedded Storage controller is configured for Advance Host Controller Interface (AHCI) or Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) and with certain drive models directly attached, the fans can spin at a higher speed. This happens mostly when the AHCI HD MAX sensor reports 46C or above temperature under Power & Thermal - Temperature Information in the iLO 5 GUI.
