On any HPE ProLiant platform configured with any of the HPE Broadcom NX1-based network adapters with firmware combo image v20.6.61 (which was released in Sep 25, 2017) listed in the Scope section below; there is a compatibility issue when firmware updates are performed.
When this issue occurs, all firmware in the server is updated to the latest version except the network adapter firmware. This occurs when performing a remote update using the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) via OneView and COM, and it also occurs when the firmware update is performed manually in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU).
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant server configured with any of the following HPE Broadcom NX1-based network adapters with firmware combo image v20.6.61:
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port BASE-T BCM5720 Adapter (615732-B21)
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T BCM5719 Adapter (647594-B21)
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port FLR-T BCM5719 Adapter (629135-B21)
Resolution
To resolve this issue, download and install the firmware combo image v20.8.41 (or later), available at the following URLs:
HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility Windows Server x64 Editions for HPE ProLiant Gen10 server series Only Version 5.3.5.0 (or later)
HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility VMware for HPE ProLiant Gen10 server series Only Version 1.35.1 (or later)
HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility Linux x86_64 for HPE ProLiant Gen10 server series Only Version 2.34.1
Notes:
The firmware components above contain firmware combo image v20.26.42.
The installation of the components above can be performed by also running the Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant Version 2023.09.00.00 (or later) in offline mode.
