For any HPE 6125XLG Ethernet Blade Switches or HPE 6127XLG Blade Switches, the unicast-suppression must be configured on the Ingress side. The Ingress side corresponds to the uplink ports of the switch, not the downlink ports connected to the network adapters. If unicast-suppression is configured on the Egress side, no suppression will occur. It would be as if the unicast-suppression was not enabled. The "unicast-suppression" command is a chip/hardware-based command to limit the rate of unknown unicast traffic. When traffic flow is above the limit, all overflow packets will be dropped.
In the scenario described above, the following switches: HPE 6125XLG Ethernet Blade Switch running any firmware version. HPE 6125XLG Ethernet Blade Switch for Integrity Server running any firmware version. HPE 6127XLG Blade Switch running any firmware version.
To properly configure unicast-suppression, perform the following steps: SSH into the switch directly using the management IP address. Run the "unicast-suppression" command, as shown below. The following is an example to suppress traffic above 512Kb for interface uplink Ten 1/1/5. From the User View, go to System View: <Switch name> system-view System View: return to User View with Ctrl+Z. Enable the interface configuration mode (for example, interface uplink Ten 1/1/5): [Switch name] int ten 1/1/5 [Switch name-Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/5] Configure unicast-suppression (for example, 512Kb): [Switch name-Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/5] unicast-suppression kbps 512 To verify the parameter was successfully configured, type the below command: [Switch name-Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/5] dis cur int ten 1/1/5 # interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/5 port link-mode bridge unicast-suppression kbps 512 To save the configuration, type the below command: [Switch name-Ten-GigabitEthernet1/1/5] save RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
