On any HPE ProLiant DX380 Gen10 Plus 24SFF server built between September 2022 and January 11, 2023, the drives may be displayed as installed in incorrect slots in Prism due to cabling configuration.
To confirm if the server is affected by this issue:
Check that the platform model is the ProLiant DX380 Gen10 Plus 24SFF FSC.
For AHV: #ipmitool fru
For ESXi: #esxcli hardware platform get
The Prism hardware page and the command "list_disks" will display the drives in the incorrect slot when compared to their physical location. For example, disk in Box1 will be shown in Box3.
The cabling on the node will be incorrect, as shown in the picture:
Scope
This only affects HPE ProLiant DX380 Gen10 Plus 24SFF FSC servers built between September 2022 and January 11, 2023.
These servers run the Nutanix operating system.
Resolution
In order to fix this issue, modify the cabling on the MR216P controller to Port1 to Box1 and Port 2 to Box3 as highlighted with the green circle in the following picture:
