In HPE ProLiant Gen10/Gen10 Plus servers, while upgrading from Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9 BRCM driver component version 7.716.02.00 to version 7.722.02.00, a "preun scriptlet failed" error message is observed when the BRCM driver component is directly installed on the RHEL 7.9 OS. In HPE Smart Update Manager (SUM) mode, an "Update returned an error" message is seen using the March_MSB_2023 SPP build; however, RHEL 7.9 BRCM driver component version 7.722.02.00 upgrades successfully and the correct version is reflected after a server restart.

Resolution
This is a display issue only, and it does not impact the functionality of the server or the update process.
A server restart is required to update BRCM RHEL7.9 driver component to version 7.722.02.00.
