On a supported HPE ProLiant Gen10 or Gen10 Plus server with an HPE Smart Raid (SR) Gen10 or Gen10 Plus controller with HPE NVMe Mainstream Performance Mixed Use Solid State Drives (SSD), a firmware update from SPP Version 2023.03.xx.xx in Offline mode will fail with the following error message: " Internal error, Flash did not report any status. A fatal error occurred ." The firmware update is not supported in Offline mode when HPE NVMe Mainstream Performance Mixed Use SSDs are configured behind any HPE Smart Raid (SR) Gen10 or Gen10 Plus controllers.

This issue is corrected in HPE Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version 2023.09.00.00. As a workaround, the firmware can be updated via HPE Smart Update Manager (SUM) in supported Operating System versions of Windows, Linux or VMware by following the instructions in the user guide: Smart Update Manager 9.0.1 User Guide AND according to the information found in the HPE Integrated Smart Update Tools (iSUT) in the following release notes: Integrated Smart Update Tools 3.0.0 Release Notes for Windows, Linux, and VMware ESXi RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
