On any HPE Integrity rx2800 configured with any of the HPHPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR/LR/CR Fabric Adapters in IO slot 1 (HP-UX path 0/0/0/9/0/0) listed in the Scope section below; the affected HPE Integrity Fabric adapter may overheat, resulting in link-down or link-flap events. This condition may be observed as the LAN port showing as "down" as follows:Message reported in syslog:Nov 14 11:18:43 uxdbsrv1 cmnetd[14230]:lan3 is down at the data link layer.Nov 14 11:18:43 uxdbsrv1 cmnetd[14230]:lan3 failed.A link-flap condition may also be found in the SysFaultMgmt (SFM) as follows:This link-down or link-flap issue is caused by limited airflow through slot 1 of the HPE Integrity rx2800 server that is above the power supply. The HP-UX hardware path of this slot is 0/0/0/9/0/0.The limited airflow causes a temperature sensitive component on the IO card to overheat and resulting in a link-down condition; however, the overheating does not cause permanent damage to the component or the board. The issue is influenced by numerous variables, such as:Ambient room temperature.Normal part to part variations in the manufacturing process, and most importantly the slot position within the server. Slot 1 does not allow sufficient airflow through the heatsink to keep the chip cool.
Any HPE Integrity rx2800 configured with any of the following HPE Integrity Fabric network adapters in slot 1:HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR Fabric Adapter (AM225A)HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-LR Fabric Adapter (AM232A)HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-CR Fabric Adapter (AM233A)Note:The HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR/LR/CR Fabric Adapters configured in any other slot location are not impacted.
Relocate the affected HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR/LR/CR Fabric Adapters to a different IO slot location. This may require swapping locations with another PCIe card if there are no empty slots available.Notes:An optional Secondary IO Riser "HPE Integrity rx2800 PCIe 3-slot Riser Board (AM228A)" may be required if no more slots are available or if one of the existing PCIe cards cannot be moved to slot 1.Slots 5 and 6 are low-profile slots requiring the low-profile bulkhead bracket that was included with the HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR/LR/CR Fabric Adapters when shipped.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
