Info
The HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) and Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) firmware provide the visibility of each individual component raw temperature on the option card and boot device including PCI cards, OCP cards and ExpBayBoot device that have numbers of temperature reporting components.
When servers with firmware version of iLO 5 v2.72 and iLO 6 v1.10, two sensor readings for the same device may be displayed. The decimal sensor is a newly added feature.
The sensor on the top line without a decimal number displays a "normalized" value which is used for thermal monitoring and fan control.
The same sensor with decimal number and dropdown list button to the left shows the highest, with least margin, sensor "Raw" temperature reading among those sensors in the dropdown list. The sensor with asterisk "*", to the left in the dropdown list indicates the highest, least margin sub-component at that moment.
This does not affect the functionality of iLO 6.
Scope
Any HPE systems with iLO 5 firmware v2.72 (or earlier) or iLO 6 firmware v1.10 (or earlier).
Resolution
The functionality of iLO 5 or LO 6 is not affected.
To avoid two different temperature readings for the same device, the normalized sensor reading will be removed from the GUI in a future version of the iLO 5 and iLO 6 firmware. This advisory will be updated when additional information is available.
