When performing a hardware add or refresh on a managed HPE Gen10 or Gen10 Plus rackmount server, an error may be generated. This occurs because HPE OneView 7.20 may not be able to fully discover all the network adapter information for some network adapters. When the issue occurs, the OneView User Interface (UI) will display the following error message: " Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware ." The network adapter, such as the "Intel Eth Ntwk Adptr OCP 3.0 E810-CQDA2" is not returning the data for associated ports in its NetworkDeviceFunctions and OneView 7.20 does not handle the "null" value for this correctly. This issue can be confirmed by using the appliance ciDebug logs. Perform the following steps to view the logs from the OneView UI: Click "Settings" on the OneView Main Menu. Under "Diagnostics," click "View diagnostics tools page." In the search box for "ciDebug log filter" under "ciDebug log," enter the following string: "RedfishNetworkAdapterUtil.java:893" Click "View ciDebug log." Click the "View ciDebug log." Specifically, this advisory addresses the relevant issue to the stack trace. When this issue occurs, a stack trace with a "NullPointerException" is seen and the following message will be in the log: "getPortNumberStringFromNetworkDeviceFunction(RedfishNetworkAdapterUtil.java:893)". Note : If this message does not appear, then this advisory information does not apply. The issue limits the OneView appliance manageability of the adapter by the OneView appliance. Any ProLiant Gen10 or Gen10 Plus rackmount and standalone servers in a managed mode with HPE OneView 7.20.
This issue is fixed in HPE OneView 8.00 or later. Updating to OneView 8.00 will successfully handle null values, irrespective of the adapter.
