On any HPE ProLiant server with an AMD processor running Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and configured with any of the HPE network adapters listed in the Scope section below; a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a "Stop code:NMI Hardware Failure" message may occur during the installation of the HPE Intel Powerville Driver v12.18.13.0.
Any HPE ProLiant server with an AMD processor running Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and configured with any of the following HPE network adapters with HPE Intel Powerville Driver v12.18.13.0: Intel I350-T4 Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T Adapter for HPE (P21106-B21) Intel I350-T4 Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P08449-B21) HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port BASE-T I350-T2V2 Adapter (652497-B21) HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port FLR-T I350-T4V2 Adapter (665240-B21) HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port BASE-T I350-T4V2 Adapter (811546-B21) Note: The network adapter(s) in this document are affected by a naming standard change for HPE products to help customers quickly and easily identify the specific vendor and model while configuring HPE platforms. To resolve this issue download and install the Microsoft KB5022840 available at the following URL: Microsoft KB5022840 For additional information about the Microsoft KB5022840, refer to the following URL: February 14, 2023—KB5022840 (OS Build 17763.4010) Workaround As a workaround for systems where the fix above (Microsoft KB5022840) has not been installed for any particular reason, perform either of the following procedures: Procedure A: When the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) occurs during the driver installation, the system will reboot automatically; then press "F9" and go to "System Utilities". Enter BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU). Go to "Virtualization Options". Go to "AMD I/O Virtualization Technology" and select "Disable". Install the driver v12.18.13.0 again. The driver will be loaded successfully without a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Go to the Windows desktop. Go to the "Registry Editor". Change the value of "DmaRemappingCompatible" to "0" under the following catalog entry: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\e1rexpress\Parameters Reboot the system. Press "F9" and go to "System Utilities". Enter BIOS/Platform Configuration(RBSU). Go to "Virtualization Options". Go to "AMD I/O Virtualization Technology" and select "Enable". Procedure 2: When the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is observed during driver installation, the system will reboot automatically; then go to the Windows desktop. Go to Server Manager. Go to "Add roles and features". Select the feature "Hyper-V". Reboot the system to add the new feature. Install the driver v12.18.13.0 again.
