The following error message could potentially be displayed in the Integrated Management Log (IML) on certain Gen10 Plus servers during system start-up:
"Internal processor error occurred - primary processor is unable to boot. System halted."
Followed by a warning message:
"Unexpected Shutdown and Restart - An undetermined error type resulted in a reboot of the server."
When the issue occurs, the processor is not able to execute and will generate a system restart. The system will then halt during POST with the IML messages above.
This error belongs to an IERR, which refers to an error that requires immediate attention to errors in the platform for debug purposes.
The issue occurs 5-10% of the time (1 occurrence in 10 to 20 attempts).
Scope
This can occur on any of the following servers running a System ROM Version 1.64 (08/11/2022) or later:
HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Plus Compute Module
HPE Apollo 2000 Gen10 Plus System
HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus System
HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus server
HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus server
HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus Front Cabled Telco Configure-to-order Server
Resolution
If this issue occurs, reboot the server. There is no need to perform an e-fuse reset or remove/insert the server to recover.
