On an HPE ProLiant server running HPE Custom Image for ESXi 7.x with the hpessacli-component, the installation of the new ssacli2-component for ESXi 7.0 via esxcli command or VMware Update Manager (VUM) will fail and/or will not replace the previous hpessacli-component. To resolve this issue, perform any of the following work-arounds depending on the server generation: For Gen9 servers, manually uninstall hpessacli-component first before installing the new ssacli2-component via esxcli command: [root@localhost:~] esxcli software component remove -n hpessacli-component [root@localhost:~] esxcli software component apply -d /tmp/ssacli2-component_6.10.21.0-7.0.0.zip 2.
