Info
HPE NVMe drives in an HPE Solutions for Cohesity server should not be "Hot-Removed" while the server is in "Run mode." Removing an active drive, before powering down the server, can result in a kernel panic.
By default, NVMe drives in an HPE Solutions for Cohesity server are not connected to an intelligent hardware-based disk controller (e.g., Smart Array controller). The server BIOS maps the NVMe devices as a "PCI-e device."
In addition, the Cohesity Operating System (OS) does not include a Linux "Hot-Swap" daemon in order to manage removeable disk devices. As a result, activating the Power button on the NVMe device will not dismount or power-down the drive. Disengaging an active drive from the drive cage will result in a kernel panic.
