On HPE Primera and HPE Alletra 9000 systems, an unexpected restart of a controller node during planned shutdown/restart of another node may occur after updating the operating system. To avoid this rare condition, install Upgrade Tool version 48 (UT048) or later before updating HPE Primera OS to 4.5.x or updating HPE Alletra 9000 OS to 9.5.x.
This issue affects HPE Primera 600 Storage arrays running OS 4.5.0 through 4.5.3 and HPE Alletra 9000 arrays running OS 9.5.0 through 9.5.3.
To verify the installed version of the Upgrade Tool, run the command showversion -b after login to the array cli: NOTE : If the Upgrade Tool version installed is 48 (UT048) or later, then no further action is necessary. If the Upgrade Tool version installed is earlier than 48, then install the latest version of the Upgrade Tool. When connected with HPE InfoSight, the latest version of the Upgrade Tool will be automatically downloaded and installed. Without HPE InfoSight, manually download the latest version of the Upgrade Tool from My HPE Software Center and load it using the storage system's user interface on the System/Software page. After the installation of the latest version of the Upgrade Tool kit, checkhealth will report the following information on the file component if the HPE Primera array is running OS version 4.5.0 through 4.5.3 or HPE Alletra 9000 OS version 9.5.0 through 9.5.3. In that case, this information is expected, can be ignored, and will be removed in a future OS release: Cli% checkhealth -d file Checking file Component Summary Description Qty File sysvars.init is altering system behavior 6 1 total 6 Component Identifier Detailed Description Resolution File node:0 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:disable_vv_rebalance=1 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual File node:0 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:gc_rebal_timeout_val=0 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual File node:0 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:lthread_wd_panic_ms=0 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual File node:1 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:disable_vv_rebalance=1 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual File node:1 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:gc_rebal_timeout_val=0 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual File node:1 Behavior altering sysvars.init "sysvars.init:lthread_wd_panic_ms=0 " exists, created on Aug 4 01:51 Manual 6 total RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
