The same error message will also be logged in the Integrated Management Log (IML): IML: The firmware update can be done over smart components for internal SAS Expander firmware or SPP version "2021.10.0" and SPP "2022.03.0". This error message can be safely ignored because the internal SAS Expander on the Apollo 4200 Gen10 does not support a redundant cabling design.
Any HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 server that will need to update internal SAS Expander firmware will be impacted.
This error message can be safely ignored because the internal SAS Expander on the Apollo 4200 Gen10 does not support a redundant cabling design. However, the message can be disabled as follows: 1. If the 1738 error is encountered during POST, press "F2 View Information/Errors:" 2. Select "Health Status:Configuration Required:" 3. Select "Repair to disable message:" For those servers that will need to update SAS Expander Firmware: 1. To update the firmware using smart components, update Smart Array Firmware to 4.11 or later first, reboot the server, and update Expander firmware on the next boot. This should prevent the issue from happening. Firmware 4.11 or later provides a fix for this issue. 2. To update Firmware using SPP tools, use smart components to update Smart Array FW to 4.11 or later first, reboot the server and use the SPP to update SAS Expander firmware on the next boot. Or use HPE SUM Version: 10.2.0 (7 Apr 2023) or later that will prevent this issue . HPE SUM 10.2.0 Note: If the error message has already occurred, a firmware update will not clear the error message.
