Info
Smart Update Manager (SUM) requires passing HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) username and password to authenticate if iLO 5 is configured with High Security modes.
If the iLO 5 username/password contains non-alphanumeric characters, smartupdate script that launches SUM will fail to complete and display a message.
Example of an attempt to capture a firmware report below:
[root@hostname packages]# /mnt/packages/hpsum --firmware_report -ilo_username Admin -ilo_password '!#$%^&*()@test'
smartupdate supersedes hpsum. Future versions will not include hpsum
Calling smartupdate
Copying sum files to /var/tmp/localsum
./smartupdate: eval: line 324: syntax error near unexpected token @test
./smartupdate: eval: line 324: `/var/tmp/localsum/x64/sum_bin_x64 --firmware_report -ilo_username Admin
-ilo_password -ilo_password !#$%^&*()@test' [root@hostname packages]#
Scope
Any HPE system with iLO 5 configured in High Security mode and has non-alphanumeric characters in the username/password when using any version of SUM.
