In rare instances, on HPE ProLiant Gen10 and Gen10 Plus Servers configured with an HPE 12G SAS Expander Card running firmware version 5.10 (or earlier), the SAS expander card may stop responding due to a task set full condition, and the Gen10 or Gen10 Plus server may stop responding. This issue occurs when the Smart Array controller accesses the drives in HBA mode (No fault tolerant RAID), and the LUN Reset is processed along with other outstanding SCSI commands by the expander firmware. The firmware runs out of tasks, causing a task set full condition. When this occurs, the host may log errors to the operating system logs. NOTE : This issue was observed on an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Microsoft Azure Stack Hub node configured with an HPE 12G SAS Expander Card running Windows Server 2019 Datacenter using disk drive model number MB010000JWRTE, but this issue may also occur on other Gen10 or Gen10 Plus servers with other configurations or operating systems. Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 or Gen10 Plus systems that support the HPE 12 SAS Expander Card are affected by this issue: HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus Server HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus Server HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus v2 server HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Server
To correct this issue, upgrade the HPE 12G SAS Expander Card firmware to version 5.12 or later.
