An Intel 2P 10/25G E810 OCP3 adapter configured in any HPE ProLiant server platform running the Hardware Validation Test (HVT) version 3.75.005, included in HPE Intelligent Provisioning 3.75, will fail the Network Self Test. This occurs when running the HVT Quick Test.
This occurs because the Intel 2P 10/25G E810 OCP3 adapter does not support the HPE network self test and will fail all tests run in HVT.
Scope
This has been observed on a ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus server configured with an Intel 2P 10/25G E810 OCP3 adapter; however, it can occur on any ProLiant server platform with the same adapter and running HVT version 3.75.005.
Resolution
The E810-XXVDA2 Intel Ethernet Adapter is not supported by the Hardware Validation Test (HVT) Version 3.75.005, included in HPE Intelligent Provisioning 3.75.
In a Linux OS, during runtime, the NATIVE ETHTOOL utility can be used instead to run network loopback and other network tests.
A future version of HVT will be written that blacklists the E-810 controller.
