Info
When connecting the Alletra 9000 RCIP 10Gb port to HPE M-series or Mellanox network switches, the network link may not be established successfully.
The
showport
output from the array will show the port state as "loss-sync."
# showport
From the Network switch logs, sysinfo.txt file, you will see the following:
Scope
HPE Alletra 90x0 series arrays using RCIP network ports and connecting to HPE M-series or Mellanox network switches are affected by this issue.
Resolution
A protocol issue exists between HPE M-series and Melanox switches and some Intel network interfaces used by HPE Alletra 9000. This limitation is well documented by Mellanox.
An option is provided by Mellanox to disable auto-negotiation on Spectrum switches starting with Onyx 3.6.6000. The link populates in force mode without a negotiation process.
To disable auto-negotiation on Spectrum switch:
switch(config) interface ethernet <id> speed 10G no-autoneg force
In some cases, if the port is already set to non-default port speed, reset the speed and set 10G without auto-negotiation after that.
For example:
switch(config) interface ethernet <id> no speed
switch(config) interface ethernet <id> speed 10G no-autoneg force
