HPE OneView may erroneously report a Virtual Connect SE 16Gb or 32Gb Interconnect Module (ICM) in a "Configured" state after network scanning tools are executed against the Fibre Channel (FC) Modules on firmware version 5.30.98 or earlier. This causes communication issues that can occur when performing OneView updates, reapplying configurations on Logical Enclosures (LE) or Logical Interconnects (LI), upgrading firmware for a VC SE 16Gb or 32Gb interconnect, or creating a Logical Enclosure Support Dump, etc.If this condition exists when communication management to the Virtual Connect (VC) SE 16Gb or 32Gb has failed (SOAP failure), any operations performed to the VC SE 16Gb or 32Gb ICM may result in a State ofConfiguration error or Added with errors. The condition is seen when OneView reports the following alert messages:Configuration Error:Added with errors:
HPE Virtual Connect SE 16Gb/32Gb Fibre Channel Module for Synergy Firmware Version 5.30.98 or earlier managed by HPE OneView.
To resolve the SOAP failure, update the HPE Virtual Connect SE 16Gb or 32Gb Fibre Channel Modules firmware to version 5.40.119 or later.Note: To prevent any re-occurrence, exclude the HPE Virtual Connect SE 16Gb or 32Gb from the network scan utilities until all the modules have been updated to firmware version 5.40.119 or later. As a workaround, to prevent the issue of failed operations from occurring, perform the following steps:Download theHPE OneView Update Readiness Checker version 2.1 or later versionto check VC SE 16Gb or 32Gb interconnect module health and follow the instructions related to Update Readiness Checker (URC) message: "Check SOAP connectivity."Perform a reset via OneView for any VC SE 16Gb or 32Gb Interconnect module(s) reporting a SOAP connection failure. Or if "None," continue to the next step below (Step 3).When all modules are configured and URC passes SOAP connectivity test, continue with performing operations, such as, OneView updates, reapply configuration, firmware updates, or support dumps.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.Sign up for Support Alerts at the following URL:HPE Email Preference CenterNAVIGATION TIP:For hints on navigating HPE.com to locate the latest drivers, patches and other support software downloads, refer to theNavigation Tips document.SEARCH TIP:For hints on locating similar documents on HPE.com, refer to theSearch Tips document.
