An HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus server running a Microsoft Windows Server operating system and configured with the inbox Microchip Smart Storage controller Media driver (SmartSAMD.sys) and an HPE SR932i-p or SR416i-a Gen10 Plus controller, may encounter a Bank 6 Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (UMCE) during OS shutdown/restart, after attempting to perform an online update to Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2021.10.0 (or earlier) with the Smart Update Manager (SUM) Local Host Guide baseline. This has been observed to occur when the affected Gen10 Plus server is configured with any of the SAS SSD physical drives mentioned in the Scope section below and supported with HPE Smart Raid SR932i-p or SR416i-a on Gen10 Plus Servers. Note: Windows Server 2019 Bug Check 0x124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD is generated during Windows Server x64 OS shutdown/restart while SPP2021.10.0 self-inventory of HPE NVME SSD Flash Smart Components is in progress. This leads to an Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception, and the critical errors below are logged to IML along with periodic SR932i-p controller Lockup Code 0x00001E30 errors during POST, following an OS shutdown/system restart on affected Gen10 Plus servers. Examples of Critical Errors Logged to Integrated Management Log (IML): - Severity,Seq #,sbSeq#,IML Class,IML Class Description,IML Code,Category Description,AHS Timestamp,Description Critical,676,406,0x0005,CPU,0x0003,Hardware,03/24/2022 07:05:49,1247: Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1 APIC ID 0x00000000 Bank 0x00000006 Status 0xBA000000'00000E0B Address 0x00000000'00000000 Misc 0x00000000'46100000). ACTION: Update the system firmware. If the issue persists contact support. - PCI Bus "Unrecoverable I/O Error has occurred System Firmware will log additional details in separate IML message entry if possible." - System Error "Uncorretable PCI Express Error Detected. Slot 2 (Segment 0xx, Bus 0x2A, Device 0x2, Function 0x0), Uncorrectable Error Status 0x4000" Note: Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger Event ID 18 below is also logged to Windows OS event log after WS2019 OS boot up after OS shutdown/restart. This issue has been fixed with Firmware Package - HPE SR932i-p Gen10 Plus /SR416i-a Gen10 Plus Controllers version 03.01.14.062 (or later).
