Following the insertion of an HPE Synergy Gen10 or Gen10 Plus Compute Module, running HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5, the compute mode may not power-on automatically. This can occur because background processes with the Frame Link Module (FLM) can become out of sequence. When this issue occurs, the power granting sequence will block normal processing, and result in the following message: Since these processes can be in varying states of readiness, it is possible for power to be granted to a process that is matching what is inserted to an existing server profile and the system to start powering on before the profile process has completed. When these background processes are out of sync, symptoms can surface in different ways: profile hold from a profile settings conflict, a profile mismatch, or a profile hold requiring intervention before proceeding. Then HPE OneView will display the following error, "Server hardware has been inserted into the enclosure bay. Locked" and the Resolution suggests a reapply of the server profile to resolve it: Note : Both of the above examples suggest an issue with the Server Hardware Type (SHT) and the profile used, but this is not the real of the issue cause.
Any HPE Synergy Gen10 or Gen10 Plus Compute Modules with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 firmware version 2.40 or later in an HPE Synergy 12000 Frame managed by HPE OneView 6.10 or earlier.
To resolve or prevent the issue, update the system baseline to the following versions: HPE OneView 6.20 or later HPE Synergy Custom SPPs/HPE Synergy Service Packs (SSP) 2021.01.03 or later HPE recommends these system baselines before adding a new compute node. As a workaround or if the symptoms persist after updating the baseline(s), attempt the following in the HPE OneView GUI: Re-apply the server profile because the error may be the result of performing a refresh of server hardware. Change the profile server type to match that of the actual server hardware, because the error may be caused from inserting unrecognized server hardware.
