HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10, and HPE ProLiant DX380 Gen10 Plus servers with HPE NS204i-p NVMe OS Boot Device may shut down intermittently and may log the following System Overheating message in the Integrated Management Log (IML): System Overheating (Temperature Sensor 47, Location I/O Board, Temperature 61) ACTION:Check fans, processor heat sink and air baffles installation. This typically occurs when the system is powering up. If the system does not shut down intermittently, instead, a Warning Health message in the iLO "System Information" "Storage" tab may be displayed as follows:
Any HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10, HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10, and HPE ProLiant DX380 Gen10 Plus server with an HPE NS204i-p NVMe OS Boot Device running a System ROM version of 2.52 (or earlier). Although this has been observed on the servers listed above, this may potentially occur on other servers.
To resolve this issue, update the System ROM as follows: HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 System ROM version 2.60 HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 System ROM version 2.60 HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 System ROM version 2.60 HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 System ROM version 2.60 HPE ProLiant DX380 plus Gen10 System ROM version 1.58 To download the latest version of the System ROM, perform the following steps: Click the following link: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center Click the "Sign in" icon located in the top-right side of the web page, and click the option "Sign in". Sign in to HPE Support Center (HPESC): For HPE authorized Service Providers: Enter the HPE Passport. For HPE Employees or Contractors: Click the "HPE employee sign in" hyperlink. Enter a product name (DL560 Gen10) in the text search field and wait for a list of Suggested Products to display. From the Suggested Products list displayed, identify the desired product and select it. The page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the selected product. From the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" expandable filter menus on the left side of the page: Locate and select the System ROM. Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available. For more important information, review the Release Notes tab. Click the Download button. As a workaround, to prevent temperature-cycling or abnormal shutdown, it is strongly recommended that the "Fan and Thermal Options " (system fan speeds setting) within the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) menu is changed from the default setting of "Optimal Cooling" to the setting of "Increased Cooling." This will increase the fan speeds and will prevent abnormal shutdowns. To modify the Thermal Configuration, from the System Utilities screen, perform the following: Press F9 to enter the System Utilities Select System Configuration Select BIOS/Platform Configuration(RBSU) Select Advanced Options Select Fan and Thermal Options Press Enter Select Increased Cooling For additional information, refer to the UEFI System Utilities User Guide for HPE ProLiant Gen10,ProLiant Gen10 Plus Servers, and HPE Synergy.
