When an 4 SFF 24G x4NVMe/SAS UBM1 SC Backplane (HPE PN: P43714-B21) is contained in a ProLiant XL225n system configuration, the System ROM and CPLD Firmware must be updated. Otherwise, there is a chance that NVMe drive performance will be degraded or the NVMe drive detection will be lost. When this occurs, throughput numbers on ProLiant XL225n nodes will be degraded or the NVMe drive will fail to be detected.
Any HPE ProLiant XL225n Gen10 Plus server in the configuration detailed above. Note: The following table indicates the backplanes that support the HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR, Smart Array E208e-p, Smart Array P408e-p, and P408i-p controller; however, to avoid this issue, DO NOT choose HPE Part number P43714-B21; choose one of the other ones instead.
