On HPE servers configured with any of the HPE Mellanox-based network adapters listed in the Scope section below, the Mellanox OFED driver installation script will automatically update firmware on the adapters without any user confirmation. The script invokes the firmware update process automatically once it completes the installation of the RPMs. The following example shows the Mellanox OFED automatically updating firmware on a Mellanox MCX623106AS-CDAT Ethernet 100Gb 2-port QSFP56 Adapter for HPE: # ./mlnxofedinstall Logs dir: /tmp/MLNX_OFED_LINUX.455285.logs General log file: /tmp/MLNX_OFED_LINUX.455285.logs/general.log Verifying KMP rpms compatibility with target kernel... This is a known condition and a feature incorporated with Mellanox OFED (MLNX_OFED). The Mellanox OFED driver package includes the firmware images for these affected HPE Mellanox-based network adapters. If the installation script finds that the firmware on the network adapter is not up-to-date, then the script will perform the firmware update automatically. Automatic firmware updates on these network adapters can be prevented by using the command line option " --without-fw-update " with the Mellanox OFED installation script as follows: # /mlnxofedinstall --without-fw-update RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
