Info
When performing an online or offline flash via an HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) Repository-based update on an HPE Gen10 or Gen10 Plus system, Smart Update Manager (SUM) will upload components to the iLO Repository and create an installset with all the applicable components and flash the components. Subsequently, when performing an OS-based update using the same SPP, FWPKG components will fail to install even though the deployment status will be displayed as successful.
This occurs because those FWPKG components are locked by the installset created while performing the iLO 5 Repository-based update.
Scope
Any HPE Gen10 system or HPE Gen10 plus system when using HPE SUM to execute OS-based updates if one or more FWPKG components are already present in the iLO Repository and part of an existing installset in the iLO.
Resolution
To avoid this issue, delete the installset from the iLO GUI which contains the required FWPKG components before performing the OS-based update using SUM.
To delete the install set from the iLO GUI:
Login to the iLO page.
Open "Firmware and OS software" in the left Menu.
Open the "Install Sets" tab. There will be a delete option with each of the installsets.
Delete the installset that contains the required FWPKG components.
This issue will be addressed in a future SUM release and this document will be updated when more information is available.
