For HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Compute Modules with an Multi-MXM Graphics Expansion Module (SKU# 872627-B21), networks will not be able to be assigned for certain Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) installed in mezzanine slots 4 or 5 listed in the Scope section below, after updating the System ROM to versions 2.36_07-16-2020 up to 2.42_01-23-2021.
When this issue occurs, HPE OneView will report the following message in the Server Hardware page:
"The adapter in Mezzanine Slot <
X
> is present but reported incomplete or invalid configuration data."
The OneView Server Profile for the affected compute module will also report the following message:
"Unable to discover server <
frame name
> port mapping information."
Additionally, HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) will report devices as being installed in mezzanine slot 4.1 or 5.1:
Mezzanine Slot 4.1 Synergy 6820C 25/50Gb CNA 8.55.22 Unknown
Mezzanine Slot 5.1 Synergy 4820C 10/20/25Gb CNA 8.55.22 Unknown
Any networks associated with the affected CNAs installed in mezzanine slots 4 or 5 will not be available to the host.
Scope
In the scenario described above, any HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Compute Modules configured with an Multi-MXM Graphics Expansion Module (SKU# 872627-B21), and any of the following CNAs:
HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapter
HPE Synergy 4820C 10/20/25Gb Converged Network Adapter
HPE Synergy 6820C 25/50Gb Converged Network Adapter
Resolution
This issue has been resolved in System ROM version 2.50_05-24-2021 (or later).
As a workaround, downgrade the System ROM to version 2.34_04-08-2020.
