Document Version Release Date Details 3 November 7, 2022 Updated Resolution with changes in iLO 2.42 to correct the HPE branding issue. 2 May 7, 2021 Updated advisory with current updates 1 April 27, 2021 Original document release After upgrading to HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware v2.33, a Server Hardware Type mismatch message may be displayed in the Server Profile page of the affected server in the HPE OneView GUI. This occurs due to a branding change where the string "HPE" was prepended to Synergy Expansion/Mezzanine and Synergy Ethernet Network Adapter names in iLO 5 firmware v2.33. When this occurs, an alert similar to the example below will be displayed in the HPE OneView GUI: The serial number of the server hardware in <enclosure, bay> matches the serial number of the server hardware originally used to create this server profile, but the server hardware type is different. The server hardware type is "<Server Hardware Type 1>" but the expected server hardware type is "<Server Hardware Type 2>" " Resolution: Perform one of the following: Replace the server hardware with its original hardware configuration in <enclosure, bay>, or edit the server profile and select different server hardware, server hardware type and/or enclosure group
Any HPE Synergy Servers after upgrading to iLO 5 firmware v2.33 and installed with any of the following Synergy Mezzanine cards/expansion modules or Synergy Ethernet Network Adapters: Synergy 480 Multi MXM Expansion Module Synergy 100W MXM Expander Short Riser Synergy 100W MXM Expander Tall Riser Synergy Mezzanine PCIe Expander Pass Through Synergy 100W MXM Mezzanine HPE Synergy 6410C 25/50Gb Ethernet Adapter HPE Synergy 4610C 10/25Gb Ethernet Adapter
HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware to 2.42 (or later) reverted the branding changes of the Synergy Mezzanine cards/expansion modules and Synergy Ethernet Network Adapters. If servers are already affected by this issue, perform either of the following workarounds: Upgrade the iLO 5 firmware to v2.42 on the affected server. This will revert the branding changes of the Synergy Mezzanine cards/expansion modules and Synergy Ethernet Network Adapters. OR Unassign the Server Profile, then change the Server Hardware Type from the Server profile screen. Once the Server Hardware type is changed in the Server profile, re-assign the Server Profile. NOTES : Any server profiles on servers running iLO 5 2.33 that were edited/applied will need to have the server hardware type updated after the iLO 5 firmware update. In a scenario where a new Server Profile is created on a server with iLO 5 firmware v2.33, and iLO 5 firmware is currently upgraded to version 2.42 (or later), the Server Hardware type of Server Profiles will need to be changed after that new iLO firmware is applied.
