If an HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus server configured with Intel X710 or E810 network adapters with any of the firmware versions mentioned in the Scope section below contains an invalid JSON format, it will lead to a failed response when using HPE OneView or other 3rd party RESTful tools to retrieve data. For OneView versions prior to 6.00, when trying to add a server with the Intel X710 or E810 network adapters, it will fail to discover the adapter and port information with the error: "Unable to discover network adapter information because the data returned from the management processor was not as expected." The server will be in an Unmanaged state. The critical alert Resolution steps will not correct the issue since it is caused by irregular Redfish JSON data received from the adapter. For OneView version 6.00, if the Intel X710 or E810 network adapter firmware is at the version with the irregular JSON, the 'Add server hardware' will be successful with the warning alert: "Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware." The Server Hardware > Ports data may be populated with full, partial, or no data. The server will be added in a Managed or Monitored state.
Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus server configured with any of the following network adapters: Intel X710-DA2 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P28778-B21) running firmware NVM version: 8.10, EEPROM : 80009837, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel X710-DA2 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ Adapter for HPE (P28787-B21) running firmware NVM version: 8.10, EEPROM : 800093DD, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel E810-XXVDA4 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P08458-B21) running firmware NVM version: 2.24, EEPROM : 800059D9, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel E810-XXVDA2 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P10106-B21) running firmware NVM version: 2.24, EEPROM : 800059DE, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel E810-XXVDA2 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P08443-B21) running firmware NVM version: 2.24, EEPROM : 800059DF, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel E810-CQDA2 Ethernet 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P22767-B21) running firmware NVM version: 2.24, EEPROM : 800059D4, OROM: 1.2829.0 Intel E810-CQDA2 Ethernet 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 Adapter for HPE (P21112-B21) running firmware NVM version: 2.24, EEPROM : 800059DB, OROM: 1.2829.0
To resolve this issue, download and install the following firmware smart components: For E810 adapters, download the component and refer to the steps below to update it. -Component download links: Intel E810-CQDA2 Ethernet 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 Adapter Intel E810-CQDA2 Ethernet 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 OCP3 Adapter Intel E810-XXVDA2 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Adapter Intel E810-XXVDA2 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter Intel E810-XXVDA4 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 Adapter -Once downloaded, update the firmware using iLO. Note: the Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO5) version should be 2.42. 1. Go to iLO GUI > Click on "Firmware and OS software" from left side > Click on "Update Firmware" > Click on "Choose File" and browse to the firmware component> Then click on "Flash" button. 2. Update status will be shown in the Top and a log entry can be seen in Integrated Management Log (IML). 3. Reboot the server for the firmware update to take effect. For the Intel X710 adapters download and install any of the following firmware smart components: Linux Firmware smart component: RPM compsig Windows Firmware smart component: exe compsig VMware Firmware smart component: zip compsig OR Update the firmware using OneView 6.00 or greater if the adapter firmware is part of an SPP using the Software and Firmware update. OneView can be used to update the network adapter information to the firmware version that corrects the malformed JSON. If the network adapter firmware is at a version that corrects the corrupted JSON, the Add server hardware feature will successfully discover the adapter and port information.
