On certain HPE platforms configured with the PE6031/PE6011 NVMe SSD models listed in the Scope section below, updating the Server Platform Services (SPS) may fail.
When this issue occurs, a message similar to the following will be displayed during Power-On Self-Test (POST):
"Firmware update failed.
An error occurred while attempting to update (STATUS = Aborted)."
This issue may occur in the following environment:
When using NVMe SSD models PE6031 and PE6011, and running firmware version HPK1. Firmware version HPK1 does not comply with the Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP) when using PCIe Vendor Defined Messages (VDMs).
HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware version 2.30.
Any Server Platform Services (SPS) version.
Scope
In the scenario described above, any HPE platforms configured with any of the following SSDs:

Resolution
This issue has been resolved in NVMe SSD firmware version HPK3.

If this issue occurs, perform the following steps:
1. Perform a system reboot on the affected servers.
2. Update the NVMe SSD firmware to version HPK3.
3. Update the Server Platform Services (SPS).
