As part of addressing the security vulnerabilities noticed from time to time on Open SSH, the Secure Shell software running on HP-UX OS may be upgraded to the latest available version; for example, A.08.10.003, which is built on Open SSH 8.1.
After the upgrade, the SSH login from HP-UX to Integrity iLO 3 will fail with a timeout or an "iLO not responding" error. The SSH logins to iLO 3 with previous versions of Secure Shell (7.x) will succeed properly.
The Secure Shell version 8.x includes an MTAES feature, which helps in enhancement of SSH performance. The Integrity iLO 3 does not support the MTAES feature, and the performance benefit of the MTAES feature is not significant for the iLO connections.
Scope
Any HPE Integrity BL8x0c i2, i4 and i6 Servers or HPE Integrity RX2800 i2, i4 and i6 Servers with any version of Integrity iLO 3 firmware.
Resolution
Run SSH with the option "disablemtaes=yes" for a successful connection to iLO 3.
For example:
# ssh -o disablemtaes=yes Administrator@<iLO_hostname or IP_Address>
