Executing HPE Smart Update Manager (SUM) version 8.5.7 (or earlier) from a Windows client to perform online deployment of various HPE SPP Firmware and Driver Smart Component packages added to an SPP baseline for HPE ProLiant Gen9/Gen10 systems running VMware ESXi Hypervisor Host OS may encounter the following error: "Deployment error - Unable to upload component(s)." This occurs if there is a space in the name of the folder or sharename where the SPP Firmware or Software Smart Component packages reside. For example, the following are SUM node.log messages that may appear: :: Uploading the component cp042998.exe to iLO Repository. HPE Smart Update Manager (SUM) version 8.5.7 (or earlier) from a Windows client used to perform an online deployment of various HPE SPP Firmware and Driver Smart Components packages added to the SPP baseline for HPE ProLiant Gen9/Gen10 servers running VMware ESXi Hypervisor Host OS.
This issue is fixed in HPE SUM version 8.70 (included with Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2020.09.0). To download the latest SUM version, perform the following steps: 1.Click the following link: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center . 2.Enter a product name (e.g., " SUM") in the text search field and wait for a list of Suggested Products to display. From the Suggested Products list displayed, identify the desired product and select it. 3.The page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the selected product. From the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" expandable filter menus on the left side of the page: -Select the Software Type "Application" -Select the Software Sub Type "System Management" -For further filtering if needed select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment. 4.Locate and select SUM 8.7.0 (or later). Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available.
