On any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server or HPE Gen10 Plus Server configured with any of the HPE Mellanox ConnectX-4, ConnectX-4 Lx, ConnectX-5, ConnectX-6, or ConnectX-6 Dx based network adapters listed in the Scope section below, the Mellanox Adapter PCIe Thermal sensor reading is not reported when the firmware is upgraded using the Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2020.09.0 with an HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware version lower than 2.30. The firmware smart components included in the Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2020.09.0 provide support only for PLDM Type 2 (DSP0248) version 1.2.0, and HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware versions lower than 2.30 support only PLDM Type 2 version 1.1.1. As a result, these network adapters are effectively without ASIC/AOC temperature monitoring on these server types. The following example shows how this HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) condition occurs on a server with three HPE Mellanox ConnectX-6 based network adapters configured on PCIe slot numbers as shown below: In this example, the issue occurs with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) Firmware version 2.14 and the network adapter firmware version 20.27.6008. Only "PCI <slotnumber> Zone" temperatures (thermal sensor reading of the Server PCIe slot) are reported in the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) web interface. Important notes: "PCI <slot_number> Zone" refers to thermal sensor reading of the Server PCIe slot, not the actual device. "PCI <slot_number>" refers to thermal sensor reading of the network adapter configured on the PCIe slot.

Upgrade to HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) firmware version 2.30 before installing or upgrading the firmware smart components for HPE Mellanox ConnectX-4 and above adapters using the Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2020.09.0.
