An enhancement has been made in System ROM version 2.34 for HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers configured with 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors that may prevent certain Uncorrectable Machine Check Exceptions (UMCEs) that look similar to the following: Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 2, APIC ID 0x00000020, Bank 0x0000000A, Status 0xBE200000'000C110A, Address 0x00000000'00000280, Misc 0x0027FAA6'00C00086) The following items must be present in the error to be considered a match to this issue: -The Bank number will be 0x9, 0xA, or 0xB. -The Status field will be set to 0xBE200000'000C110A. The System ROM 2.34 release notes refer to the enhancement as follows: Addressed an issue where the system may experience a Bank 0x9/0xA/0xB Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception with a Status Code of 0xBE200000'000C110A and an Address field value of 0x00000000'00000280. Although the release notes specify an address value of 0x00000000'00000280, other address field values may be valid for which the enhancement in System ROM 2.34 may prevent the problem.
Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server configured with 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors using a System ROM version earlier than 2.34. The UMCEs observed on servers with this configuration are OS-independent.
Update the server to System ROM Version 2.34 (or later). To download the System ROM version 2.34 (or later), perform the following steps: 1.Click the following link: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center 2.Enter a product name (e.g., " DL120 Gen10") in the text search field and wait for a list of Suggested Products to display. From the Suggested Products list displayed, identify the desired product and select it. 3.The page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the selected product. From the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" expandable filter menus on the left side of the page: -Select the Software Type "BIOS" -Select the Software Sub Type "System ROM" -For further filtering if needed select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment. 4.Locate and select the System ROM 2.34 (or later). Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available.
