Info
An HPE ProLiant Gen8 or ProLiant Gen9 server configured with any version of HPE Insight Management Agents and running any of the Microsoft Windows operating systems mentioned in the Scope section below, may experience memory leaks caused by periodically reading Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) data, which consists of a constant cycle of COM initialization, followed by query WMI data and COM uninitialization. This process may consume a lot of memory over a period of time and impact overall system performance.
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant Gen8 or ProLiant Gen9 server running any of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems:
Microsoft Windows Server 2016
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
Microsoft Windows Server 2012
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Essentials
Resolution
To identify if a memory leak is close to occurring, when the overall system performance declines or slows down, check the Task Manager to see if the Memory usage of "cpqnimgt.exe" is obviously greater than other tasks.
If that is the case, follow the steps below to release the memory. Note that this is a temporary workaround, and after a period of time the same process needs to be repeated if the issue re-occurs.
1. Click on Windows Start menu and type "Services" to launch the Services window.
2. Select the "SNMP service" in the service list and click "Restart" to reinitialize the following 4 services simultaneously:
HP Insight Foundation Agent
HP Insight Storage Agents
HP Insight Server Agents
HP Insight NIC Agents
